Can a Venue Offer Me a Better Refund Than the Standard Policy?
Haveaspot’s cancellation policy sets out your contractual rights regarding refunds. These tiers are the minimum you are entitled to. However, in some circumstances, a Venue may choose to be more generous.
Discretionary Refunds
Section titled “Discretionary Refunds”A Venue may, entirely at their own discretion, choose to offer you a higher or full refund in cases of extenuating circumstances — for example, if you have a genuine emergency, a serious illness, or another compelling reason for cancelling.
This is entirely the Venue’s decision and is made:
- At their sole discretion — they are under no obligation to do so
- At their own expense — the Venue bears the financial cost of any amount refunded beyond the standard policy
These Refunds Cannot Be Demanded
Section titled “These Refunds Cannot Be Demanded”A discretionary refund from a Venue is a goodwill gesture. It is not a right under Haveaspot’s Terms and cannot be:
- Demanded or expected as a matter of course
- Appealed to Haveaspot if the Venue declines to offer one
- Guaranteed for any particular type of circumstance
How to Request a Discretionary Refund
Section titled “How to Request a Discretionary Refund”If you believe your circumstances are exceptional, you can:
- Contact the Venue directly through the Platform messaging system
- Explain your situation and ask if they would consider a higher refund
Haveaspot encourages Venues to be considerate when genuine hardship is involved, but we cannot compel a Venue to act outside the standard policy.
Your Standard Rights Always Apply
Section titled “Your Standard Rights Always Apply”Regardless of whether a Venue offers a discretionary refund, your standard cancellation rights under our policy always apply. See What Refund Will I Receive If I Cancel? for the full breakdown.
