Do I Need to Disclose Security Cameras at My Venue?

Yes. If your venue has any surveillance equipment — including CCTV cameras, video doorbells, or other recording devices — you are required to disclose this in your listing. Failing to do so is a breach of your obligations as a Venue on Haveaspot.

Why disclosure is required

Bookers have a right to know if they are being recorded when they use your space. Undisclosed surveillance can be a serious breach of privacy — and in some circumstances, a legal issue. Transparency about cameras builds trust and ensures Bookers can make an informed decision.

What you must disclose

In your listing, you should clearly state:

• Whether surveillance cameras are present at your venue
• Where they are located — for example, in the entrance hall, main event space, or external areas
• What footage is used for — for example, security monitoring or property protection

Where cameras are prohibited

Regardless of disclosure, cameras are strictly prohibited in:

• Bathrooms
• Changing rooms or changing areas
• Any other spaces where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy

Installing or permitting cameras in these areas is a serious breach and may also constitute a criminal offence under UK law.

What about external cameras?

Cameras covering external areas such as car parks, entrances, or shared walkways should still be disclosed in your listing. Bookers may be captured on these cameras, even if the cameras are not inside the hired space itself.

Keeping your disclosure up to date
