Can I Take Bookings Outside of Haveaspot?
It depends on how the Booker found you.
You can continue to take direct bookings from anyone who approaches you independently — for example, a local organisation that contacts you directly, a repeat customer from before you joined Haveaspot, or someone who found your venue through your own marketing or website. Listing on Haveaspot does not restrict your ability to run your venue or take bookings through your own channels.
What you must not do is circumvent the platform by arranging a booking directly with someone who found or contacted you through Haveaspot. This is known as the non-circumvention rule, and it is a core condition of your Venue Service Agreement.
What the rule covers
Section titled “What the rule covers”The non-circumvention rule prohibits you from:
- Taking a booking off-platform from someone who discovered your venue through Haveaspot
- Encouraging or inviting a Booker to contact you directly to avoid the platform
- Accepting payment outside of Stripe/Haveaspot for a booking that originated through the platform
- Referring a Booker to an external booking channel instead of completing the booking on Haveaspot
Why does this rule exist?
Section titled “Why does this rule exist?”Haveaspot provides the technology, platform, and marketing to connect you with Bookers. The Booking Fee that Haveaspot charges Bookers is how the platform sustains itself. Circumventing the platform deprives Haveaspot of its fee and undermines the service that brings Bookers to your venue in the first place.
What are the consequences?
Section titled “What are the consequences?”Breaching the non-circumvention rule is considered a material breach of your Venue Service Agreement. The consequences can include:
- Immediate account termination — Haveaspot can close your account without notice
- Loss of all existing listing visibility — your space will no longer appear on the platform
- Potential liability for fees and losses suffered by Haveaspot as a result of the breach
What if a Booker asks to pay directly?
Section titled “What if a Booker asks to pay directly?”If a Booker contacts you and asks to book outside of Haveaspot, you should politely decline and direct them to book through the platform. This protects you as much as Haveaspot — off-platform bookings also mean you lose the protections provided by the platform’s payment system and Cancellation Policy.
If you are unsure whether a situation constitutes off-platform booking, contact support@haveaspot.com before proceeding.
