How Does Payment Work — When Is My Card Charged?

Haveaspot uses a two-stage payment process to protect both Bookers and Venues. Your card is not charged at the point of submitting a Booking Request — it is only charged once the Venue confirms your booking.

When you submit a Booking Request, Haveaspot (via Stripe, our payment processor) places a pre-authorisation hold on your chosen payment method for the full Total Fee.

This hold:

  • Reserves the funds to ensure they are available
  • Does not transfer money to Haveaspot or the Venue
  • Appears on your bank statement as a pending transaction, but is not a charge

You need to ensure your payment method has sufficient funds available to cover the full Total Fee at the point of submitting your request.

Payment is captured (i.e. your card is actually charged) only when the Venue confirms your Booking.

If your Booking Request is:

  • Declined by the Venue
  • Not responded to before the request expires
  • Cancelled by you before confirmation (where permitted)

…the pre-authorisation hold is released and no payment is taken. The time it takes for the funds to become available in your account again depends on your bank or card provider — this is outside Haveaspot’s control.

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. Haveaspot does not store your full card details. See Who Processes My Payment? for more information.
