What Does Haveaspot's Role as an Intermediary Mean for Me?
Haveaspot operates as an online marketplace and intermediary. This is one of the most important things to understand about how the platform works — it shapes your responsibilities as a Venue in several significant ways.
Haveaspot is not a party to your bookings
Section titled “Haveaspot is not a party to your bookings”When a Booker confirms a booking with you, the resulting agreement is between you and the Booker. Haveaspot facilitates the transaction but is not part of the contract. This means that if something goes wrong during a booking — a dispute, damage, or a disagreement over the event — it is primarily a matter between you and the Booker to resolve.
What Haveaspot is responsible for
Section titled “What Haveaspot is responsible for”Haveaspot is responsible for:
- Providing and maintaining the platform
- Processing payments via Stripe on behalf of Bookers
- Enforcing the standardised Cancellation Policy that applies to all bookings
- Communicating platform changes and updates to you
What Haveaspot is not responsible for
Section titled “What Haveaspot is not responsible for”As an intermediary, Haveaspot is not responsible for:
- Vetting Bookers — Haveaspot does not carry out identity checks or background checks on the people who book your space. That responsibility sits with you. See Am I Responsible for Vetting Bookers? for more detail.
- What happens at your venue — you are responsible for the safety, condition, and management of your Listed Premises during any booking
- Ensuring Bookers follow your House Rules — you set and enforce your own rules
- Your insurance — you must maintain appropriate public liability cover independently of the platform
Why this matters for how you operate
Section titled “Why this matters for how you operate”Because Haveaspot is an intermediary, you carry more direct responsibility than you might expect. You should:
- Read and vet booking requests carefully before confirming
- Ensure your listing accurately describes your space and its rules
- Have adequate insurance in place at all times
- Be prepared to manage any issues with Bookers directly
Understanding this structure helps you use Haveaspot effectively and avoid situations where you might assume the platform will step in when it cannot.
