What Is Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)?

If you are unable to resolve a dispute directly with a Venue or with Haveaspot, you may have the right as a consumer to use Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).

What Is ADR?

ADR is a process for resolving disputes outside of court. It involves an independent, impartial third party who can help the parties involved reach a resolution — either through mediation (helping both parties agree) or adjudication (making a binding or non-binding determination).

ADR is typically faster and less expensive than taking a matter to court.

Who Can Use ADR?

ADR is available to consumer Bookers — individuals booking for personal, non-commercial purposes. If you are a Business Booker (booking on behalf of a company, organisation, or charity), some consumer-specific ADR rights may not apply to you.

The Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Platform

The UK has a contact point for the EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform, which provides information on ADR providers and how to access them. Details are available through UK consumer rights resources such as the Citizens Advice Bureau or the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.

Does Using ADR Affect My Legal Rights?

No. Choosing to use ADR does not restrict your right to take legal action. You can still pursue a claim through the courts if ADR does not resolve your dispute.
