What Insurance Do I Need to List on Haveaspot?
As a Venue on Haveaspot, you are required to hold adequate public liability insurance at all times. This is a condition of listing on the platform and an important protection for you, your guests, and your business.
What is public liability insurance?
Section titled “What is public liability insurance?”Public liability insurance covers you if a third party — such as a Booker or one of their guests — suffers an injury or property damage as a result of your venue or something you are responsible for. For example, if a guest trips on a loose step and is injured during a booking, public liability insurance would typically cover the resulting claim.
Why is it your responsibility?
Section titled “Why is it your responsibility?”Haveaspot is an intermediary — it does not provide, arrange, or underwrite insurance on your behalf. The platform connects you with Bookers, but the responsibility for what happens at your premises during a booking rests with you as the Venue. Insurance is a fundamental part of managing that responsibility.
What level of cover do you need?
Section titled “What level of cover do you need?”The appropriate level of cover will depend on the nature of your space and the types of events you host. As a general guide, most commercial venues opt for a minimum of £1 million in public liability cover, though many choose higher limits for larger or higher-risk spaces. You should seek advice from a qualified insurance broker to determine what is right for your venue.
Other insurance considerations
Section titled “Other insurance considerations”Depending on your venue and the events you host, you may also want to consider:
- Employers’ liability insurance — required by law if you have any employees
- Buildings and contents insurance — to cover damage to your property or equipment
- Event cancellation insurance — though this would typically be the Booker’s responsibility to arrange for their own event
Keep your cover active
Section titled “Keep your cover active”Your insurance must remain in place for the entire time your listing is active on Haveaspot. If your policy lapses or you have any gap in cover, you should pause your listing until it is reinstated.
