Am I Responsible for Vetting Bookers?
Yes. As a Venue on Haveaspot, you are responsible for deciding whether to accept a booking request and for taking any steps to verify or vet the Booker that you feel are appropriate.
What Haveaspot does not do
Section titled “What Haveaspot does not do”Haveaspot is an intermediary marketplace. It does not:
- Carry out identity checks on Bookers
- Conduct background checks
- Verify the accuracy of information a Booker provides about themselves or their event
- Guarantee the suitability of any Booker for your venue
This is stated clearly in the Venue Service Agreement. Because Haveaspot is not a party to the contract between you and the Booker, the decision to accept a booking — and the consequences of that decision — rest with you.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”Before confirming a booking, you can:
- Review the booking request carefully — check the event type, number of guests, and any notes provided by the Booker
- Ask questions via the platform — use Haveaspot’s messaging tools to request more information about the event before confirming
- Decline requests that concern you — you are not obligated to accept every booking request
- Set clear House Rules — well-written House Rules help filter out unsuitable Bookers and give you a basis for ending a booking early if rules are breached. See How to Write Accurate and Effective House Rules
Why this matters
Section titled “Why this matters”Because Haveaspot does not vet Bookers, any risk associated with who uses your space is primarily yours to manage. If a Booker causes damage, creates a nuisance, or acts unlawfully at your venue, Haveaspot cannot be held responsible — the obligation to have adequate safeguards (including insurance and due diligence) lies with you.

Using your judgement
Section titled “Using your judgement”Most bookings on Haveaspot are straightforward and problem-free. But being a responsible Venue means asking the right questions upfront and not confirming bookings you are not comfortable with. It is better to decline a request than to deal with a difficult situation on the day.
